So, I Am Sending You

Episode Summary

The Great Commission was one of the final things Jesus spoke to his disciples. Therefore, it was important, it wasn't a suggestion—it was a command. The Great Commission was also one way of being the light of the world—of sharing the Light of the World to others. Just as God the Father sent Jesus, His Son, so Christ is sending us. We're on mission: to be the light and to "Go tell the others."

Episode Notes

Matthew 5:14-16 ESV

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

1 John 5:5-10 ESV

5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. 9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son.

Application:

If we've been led out of darkness and see Christ for who He really is...

If we respond to Christ's crucifixion and resurrection by believing in Him...

If we understand that Christ has commissioned us to continue His mission...

Then who we are should be forever changed by Jesus Christ and our faith in Him. Our response is to live it out. Everyday. Everywhere. Allowing Christ to shine through us.
